Neftalí Agrella - Dust

Before us, in the night
there was a tree, and the stars
perched on it like birds.

The collected haikus of Neftali Agrella, in their first English translation.
The two streams of Neftalí Agrella’s writing - the Futurism and the recounting of life in a port city - come together in his haikus, which are by turns comic, tragic, earthy and abstract. Their wit and charm survived the eclipse of his reputation, and were used to remind readers of his genius upon his eventual rediscovery.

The typography in this collection is based on that used in the journals where Agrella's haikus first appeared. They are Spanish interpretations of late 19th French century typefaces
